Storm watching in Tofino. Personal project.
Castello di Gabbiano, Tuscany
Your next holiday should be to Tuscany and Castello di Gabbiano. I’ll do my best to describe how much I enjoyed the region but my writing won’t do it justice. Tuscany has an unfair amount of rich culture and history, for example Castello di Gabbiano was built in the 12 century and you can stay in it. My bathroom was located in the top part of the castles corner tower. The food is local and amazing. I tried freshly pressed olive oil for the first time and it’s unbelievable. The air was crisp and had a beautiful fragrant smell. The main focus of the project was to photograph the vineyards, which are not only visually stunning but also produce outstanding wine.
Thanks to Castello di Gabbiano www.gabbiano.com, Susan www.haymakercreative.com and John www.johnsinal.com for a great trip.
Salute
Tantalus Range, Coast Mountains.
I’ve always had a great deal of respect for landscape photographers who challenge extreme environments and brave harsh weather. The morning I took this panorama it was crazy cold and very windy, luckily I didn’t have to trek for this image. I was parked on the side of the sea to sky hwy and got back in my car as quickly as possible.
The oldest standing Arthur Erickson house. This image is currently in the November issue of Vancouver Magazine. An amazing home with a great history. The home was featured in the Twilight films and has developed a celebrity status. Read the interesting Michael Harris article about the home here. I photographed the entire home for Western Living Magazine and will make sure to share the interior photographs once their article has run.
Capilano Suspension Bridges newest attraction Cliffhanger. Photographed for Vancouver Magazine and currently in their November issue. The attraction was the most frightening assignment I’ve had this year. I’m comfortable with heights but bouncing on a narrow uncompleted walkway 90 metres above Capilano River was scary.
West Vancouver Residence. Built by Bradner Homes. Interiors by Heffel Balagno Design.
Two great modern bathrooms designed and built by Scott Neves at Dominic Design. The company also creates beautiful jewelry which you can view at www.dominicdesign.ca
I’m really excited to be featured in the fall 2010 issue of PhotoEd magazine. The fall issue focuses on architectural photography while the article itself features several of my photographs and discusses my photography career. Thank you to editor Felix Russo for asking me to be included and to Matthew Wheeler for writing the complimentary article.
