Vancouver Magazine. Fashion Jack.
I photographed Jack and his work space for Vancouver Magazine. He runs a fashion label called f11 and produces his own magazine. He’s serious about fashion but we still wanted the photographs to feel youthful and fun. To see more images from the shoot and read his story check out the online article and video.
Canadian Business Magazine. BC Infrastructure.
An exciting photo essay project from Canadian Business Magazine had me photograph new and planned infrastructure projects around BC. I met a lot of great people and learnt a lot about container terminals, shipping ports, grain terminals, pipelines, oil tankers, coal terminals, highways, railways, and transport bridges.
Western Living Condo
I love dogs and seem to photograph them in spaces quite a bit. All of the interior photographs for this project included dogs and all three couldn’t have been easier to work with. Thanks to all the owners for inviting us into their homes and for having such well trained best friends.

Western Living Condo. Dussa Residence.
This chic condo was photographed for the spring/summer issue of Western Living Condo. I like the traditional design pieces mixed with the minimal style. The main living space has a monochrome design that is soft and allows the areas of high contrast like the black and white fabric wall to command your attention.
Fresh St. Market
Photographed for Fresh St. Market and Canadian Grocer Magazine. This West Vancouver grocery store has everything you could want from your grocers. Thanks to all the staff for being both accommodating and helpful.
Moe's Home Collection
When people ask what I photograph, I answer exteriors and interiors, but I should also add that I sometimes photograph people, landscapes and products. The photography for Moe’s is always part interior photography, part product photography. In the above photographs the interior space compliments the products and allows them to be the main focus.
An important part of these photographs and all photography is lighting. For this project I wanted a clean and soft daylight look. When working in a bright home I might only need window light to achieve this look. When I’m in a studio, a retail store or any space with limited natural light, I’ll use lights. For each of these photographs I used 2 speedotron 2400 flash generators, 3 flash heads, 2 medium softboxes, 1 octabank sofbox, and 1 20×20 diffusion silk.
Vancouver Magazine
I’ve been fortunate to be able to photograph a dozen personal space portraits and have really enjoyed meeting the wonderful people that make Vancouver great. Everyone I’ve photographed for the assignments has been warm, welcoming and generous. Musician, poet and author Michael Turner played a mean ukulele and was happy to take song requests. Business owner and Real Housewives of Vancouver star Jody Claman is a great baker and wouldn’t let me leave without taking some warm cookies. Publisher Scott McIntyre thought I would enjoy the book Hot Art by Joshua Knelman, and gave me his copy. Of course he was right and I found the true crime book fascinating. I’ll be posting more personal space images soon. In the meantime you can learn more about the people and their spaces by visiting the Vancouver Magazine personal space webpage.
