BC Ferries. WIAN Branding

BC Ferries. WIAN Branding. Had a great day photographing BC Ferries employees for their upcoming annual report. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Having ridden the ferries my entire life it was a real privilege to see the inner workings of the Horseshoe Bay terminal and both the Langdale and Bowen Island ferries.

Bard on the Beach and Arts Club Theatre

The Vancouver theatre community may soon be getting a great new performing arts facility. Pending final funding Bard on the Beach and Arts Club Theatre will be sharing a new 4080 square metre theatre centre in South False Creek. The interiors are currently undeveloped which lent itself well to very structural photographs.

Revolver Coffee

Post Projects asked me to photograph Revolver Coffee and Archive with a focus on their graphic identity and brand design work. Both the graphics and interiors are incredibly cool. The interior was designed by Craig Stanghetta with art contributions from Ricky Alvarez. I’ve never loved the taste of coffee, but maybe I’ve just never tried a good coffee. If I ever decide to convert, Revolver will be my first stop.

Tempo. Amacon.

Tempo. Amacon.

Show suites are a great way for potential buyers to see the layout and finishes of their future homes. Amacon built two suites for their new Tempo development in Richmond. The Tempo suites are beautiful and well styled but also present many unique photography challenges. The two images above show an early test photograph and the final result. The main challenge with the Tempo suites was that they were built within an existing warehouse. We created a natural looking light source and hid the warehouse walls by placing large diffusions scrims outside the suite windows and lighting through them. We turned off all the warehouse lights as the overhead sodium vapour bulbs would have produced a very yellow and unflattering quality of light. The final result is a room that looks warm, inviting and real.

Vancouver Magazine. Darcy Ilich.

Darcy is co-owner of the Cross Decor and Design. When we photograph a home we adjust the elements within every space. Furniture gets tweaked, pillows adjusted, extra elements removed. Sometimes a room looks great and we move a lot of things just based on camera angle. Darcy so perfectly arranged and styled her Kits Point home that we didn’t have to style anything. This never happens. I think out of habit I moved a pillow and slightly adjusted the throw on the couch.
